At AboutHer Mag, we believe that age is no barrier to thoughtful storytelling. This charming review by 9-year-old Sharika Suma Razdan captures the wonder, suspense, and excitement that J.K. Rowling’s world sparks in young readers. With curiosity and confidence, she recounts Harry Potter’s second year at Hogwarts through her eyes. A wonderful reminder of how books fuel imagination—no matter your age.
Review
Let me start by saying one thing — this book is full of suspense! From the very beginning, I couldn’t stop turning the pages, always wondering, “What’s going to happen next?” J.K. Rowling does an amazing job of keeping readers hooked with twists and turns you never see coming.
The story begins with a mysterious warning written in blood on a wall: “The Chamber of Secrets has been opened.” Then, strange things start happening — dead roosters, the school caretaker’s cat getting petrified, and eventually, even Hermione, one of the main characters, is frozen like a statue! As the plot thickens, Ron’s younger sister, Ginny, seems to be acting suspiciously and is found at the scenes of these terrible incidents with feathers and blood on her robes!
One of the most exciting chapters is when Harry breaks his arm during a Quidditch match — all thanks to a rogue Bludger controlled by none other than Dobby the house-elf! While recovering in the hospital wing, Harry gets a visit from Dobby, who confesses to causing all sorts of trouble, including making Harry and Ron miss the train to Hogwarts (which led to that crazy flying car scene!).
Harry also starts hearing scary voices in the walls whispering things like “Revenge…” and “Kill the Mudbloods…” Things get even more intense during a Dueling Club session when Harry speaks Parseltongue — the snake language! Suddenly, everyone starts thinking he might be the Heir of Slytherin!

Later, with Hermione’s help, Harry and Ron brew the tricky Polyjuice Potion to sneak into the Slytherin common room and question Draco Malfoy. But oops — Hermione accidentally turns into a cat and ends up in the hospital wing with furry ears and a tail!
Things take a dark turn when Ginny gets taken down to the actual Chamber of Secrets, and Harry has to face a terrifying creature — a Basilisk! There’s also a magical diary that talks back, a ghost named Moaning Myrtle, and a major plot twist involving Tom Riddle (who turns out to be someone VERY unexpected).
In the end, Ginny is rescued, the mystery is solved, and Hogwarts is safe once again.
My Verdict:
This book had everything — action, mystery, magic, and a little bit of humour too! The settings were vivid, the characters were brave and clever, and the story kept me guessing until the very end. I absolutely loved reading it and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys adventure and mystery.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5 stars from me!) 😊😊
